The Thirty-Second Day
A week has gone by since I took the last picture in this project, and it’s given me a little time to think about how things went.
Mostly, I think they went well, and I had fun with the project. I tried some new things. I learned a lot about the limits of both my gear and my skills. I took some pretty good pictures. I took some really bad pictures. I found some creative ideas that I want to revisit sometime in the future.
I’m also really glad I didn’t set out to do this as a photo a day for a year. I don’t think I could sustain the level of photographic output I produced this January (I took over 700 photos last month) for an entire year. I love photography – it’s one of my very favorite hobbies, and I want to keep getting better. But it’s not my only hobby, and I spent January neglecting some of the other hobbies for the sake of spending more time taking pictures. Now that January’s over, I want to get back to spending my free time doing other things in addition to staring into my viewfinder.
But I’m glad I did this. And who knows, I might even do it again sometime.
